Weekend in Surabaya

Last weekend was something else. With the flu still attached, I made it up Mount Bromo! Using the stairs lah. Hehe.. And, I went crazy.. shopping!!

First off, Surabaya. VERY hot when we arrived. Ade (my friend yg uruskan our trip) welcomed us at the airport, with our tour guide, Wawan. Had Nasi Padang for lunch @ Silanggang Jaya Restaurant. After we dropped Ade off at the bus terminal, we headed straight to Cemoro Lawang. Halfway through the highway, we stopped by the roadside to see a village yg dah ditenggelami lava.


On the way naik ke Cemoro Lawang, keadaan dah makin sejuk. Pemandangan sangat cantik dihiasi kabus. Along the roadside, terdapat bunga2 yg kembang segar dan tanaman sayur - mostly kobis & kentang. Sumber pendapatan penduduk sana. It reminds me of Edward Cullen. I thought at any moment he would jump out of the mist. Heheh.. We stayed at a hostel called Cafe Lava. VERY comfy bed, bantal & selimut! And yes, superb dishes too. We had Nasi Goreng Jawa, Soto Ayam, Nasi Campur dan Potato Cheese. I had a cabin all to myself, coz one of my friend can't make it for the trip. Sangat kesian dia, ok! She had to work. Boss tak kasi cuti. Ape punye boss daa!!


Kat sana, sunrise & sunset awal. 6am dah macam 8am. Begitu jugak bila pm. So @ 3am I was up dan mandi. Heater rosak, so mandi dengan air sejuk macam ais yg mencucuk hingga ke tulang. Best beb! Malam tu bintang penuh di langit! Cantik sangat rasa nak tidur luar je. Anyway, 4am dah naik jeep ke kaki Mt. Penanjakan. Sejuk yg amat! Bought gloves for Rp15.000 dan sewa jacket for Rp10.000. Tourist ramai sangat kat atas tu so berhimpit2 dan berebut2. Most with camera yg canggih2. Around 5am++, dah nampak cahaya oren. Tapi that morning was a bit cloudy, so sunrise tak se cantik dalam gambar yg ada di internet. Tapi memang sangat terpegun dengan kecantikannya.


Then kami turun dan teruskan perjalanan ke lautan pasir. Nak naik 250 anak tangga untuk tengok kawah Mt. Bromo. Masuk je kawasan tu, kuda2 dah start kejar. Coz u have to walk from the jeep parking area to the stairs. It's about 2 - 3 km. Jauh, so we decided to naik kuda. First time for all of us! My kuda's name is Pablo. Naik tangga SANGAT memenatkan! Ada la dalam 5 pit stop kami buat. Gila tak fit langsung. But it was so worth every peluh yg keluar. The view was spectacular! Me & Ely sat at the cliff to enjoy the view, cik Linda kite duduk berhampiran tangga terlindung dari cahaya matahari yg terik-gila-walaupun-baru-pukul-7pagi.


By 8.30am, we have reached our hostel balik semula for breakfast. I bought a souvenir t-shirt for myself and 20 keping postcards for Nur. Mahai betul budak naik motor tu bagi. Itupun dah puas aku bargain. "Nggak ada apa2 mbak, janji kita cocok!", katanya sambil mencuit aku. Ewah-ewah budak sorang nih... Hehehe.. We checked out early sbb nak pi Madakaripura Waterfall. Signboard says 5km. DO NOT believe the sign. It was more like, 105km. Tapi we didn't go in because kena panjat batu2 kat waterfall tu. Kasut licin, plus.. ada seorang lelaki sedang mandi tanpa seurat benang pun. Nasib baik dia membelakangkan kita. If not mmg histeria beb!


We headed back to Surabaya, check in hotel. Quds Royal Hotel. Paling tinggi in the area. Interior macam istana, but cuma 3 bintang aja. Makanan kat hotel tu?? Superb!!! Dan murah, of course. That evening we went to ITC - International Trade Centre. Where we had dinner @ the foodcourt and do a little bit of shopping. Kami makan Nasi Timbel. Ely kata yg kita makan tu kurang sedap, tapi try aje la. Kurang sedap pun jadi sedap giler! Pedas nak mampos. Tak lupa, Es Teler. I requested untuk tengok city centre, tapi it was too far away! Plus our driver, Toriq dan Wawan bukan orang sana. They're from Yogyakarta. So tatau jalan la. Sesat2 masuk satu taman rekreasi ni. Rupanya tempat berpacaran. Kena bayar Rp5000 sorang plak tuh! Baik berpacaran kat rumah jek. Haha.. Aku msg Ade tanya apsal tak amik org Surabaya, dia kata susah nak jumpa yg boleh dipercayai.


Malam tu aku & Ely takde keje, order lagi makanan. Hahaha... Room service yg murah. Kami order Fish & Chip, Pisang Keju & Air Oren. Hahaha.. Aku lupa nama air tu ape. It's a combination of orange, lime & susu. So far the best drink I've had kat sana. Semua sekali, plus tax & service charge, baru Rp71.000 kot? Rm20++ la...


The next morning, we had breakfast kat hotel. Every single food yg ada, aku try. Air pun sama. Haha. Sedap dan portion nya banyak. Nasi Goreng, Ayam, Soup, Sayur Campur, Roti Bakar with Strawberry Jam & Chocolate Rice, Pancake, Omelette.. I ate 'em all!

After check-out, we went straight to Plaza Jambatan Merah. We read in a forum yg kata sini shopping murah. And yes, WAY TOO CHEAP to even imagine! We were expecting to buy kebaya for RM50, konon nya the cheapest lah. Sekali tu paling murah Rp35.000. Equals to RM12 lebih kurang. Sepasang kebaya. Tak gila ke? Hah.. aku ape lagik... tunjuk lah skill shopping aku. Tawar menawar, bermesra alam dengan rakyat dan akhirnya aku dapat 6 pasang kebaya, 4 helai kain batik, 4 helai baju, 1 kain lace (utk pengantin-to-be Cousin Lin) and 1 helai telekung. Lace kat sana SANGAT cantik dan murah. Aku rasa macam nak kawen jek sbb nak beli utk diri sendiri. Hahah..

Percaya tak, aku bawak RM500 siap tak habis. Tapi aku dapat shopping dan makan giler banyak! Beg tak cukup la, so I had to stop my shopping extravaganza lah kan. Hehehe.. Kami belanja Wawan dan Toriq @ a kedai makan. Kami bertiga had Nasi Kebuli Ayam while the two guys had Ayam Bakar. Murah gak, total dalam Rp90.000++. Sebab takut jem, so we headed to airport awal la. Sekali tu jalan tak jem langsung! We arrived 4 hours earlier dari flight. Hahaha.. Lepak2 je la kat airport tu. Tengok2 orang. Hehehe...


I had a wonderful time. Kenyang & puas hati. Cuma bab shopping je tak brapa puas. Should've bought more! Hahaha.. Akhir kata... THANK YOU, Air Asia. Now, Everyone can fly! Really!
